How should nursing students study pharmacology for NCLEX exam? Instead of doing a large amount of pharmacology questions, break it up and add 5 pharmacology questions to the daily number of questions you’re doing. I recommend this because the pharmacology questions can be difficult and many times they are drugs nursing students have never heard of in nursing school. 3 tips for looking up pharmacology drugs:1. Look up the drug class2. Look up the mechanism of action 3. Look up side effects & adverse effects & potential interactions 4. Hit the follow button for more NGN/nursing school tips/tricks! How many case studies do nursing students get in NCLEX exam? Typically students usually report receiving 4-5 six question case studies in addition to multiple single question case studies. Case studies were created by NCSBN as a critical thinking piece for new nurse graduates. These items are a bit more difficult for new nurses than LPN or international nurses because they already have developed those critical thinking skills.Hit the follow button for more NGN/nursing school tips/tricks! When should nursing students stop studying for NCLEX exam? I have my nursing students quit studying3 days prior to the NCLEX exam. Cramming is never a great idea. By this point, as a nursing student, you either know the content or you don’t. Trying to cram up until your NCLEX e dm will result in mental fatigue. Nursing students need to be well rested & mentally prepared before the NCLEX exam. Hit the follow button for more NGN/nursing school tips/tricks! When should nursing students stop trying to pass NCLEX exam? NEVER! Never give up on yourself. I have tutored students that have failed at least twice and as many as six times! But guess what? Every one of these students is smart and capable of passing NCLEX! Remember failure in NCLEX is usually related to content and more importantly, not knowing how to study for NCLEX exam correctly. Stop thinking that NCLEX tutoring is for people that aren’t smart. That’s a myth! Ask yourself is it better to continue to struggle to pass my NCLEX exam or ask someone to give the right tools so I can study and be successful on the NCLEX exam?Hit the follow button for more NGN/nursing school tips/tricks! How can you be consistent when studying for the NCLEX exam? Study 50-60 questions daily, 5 days a week. Remember quality over quantity. It’s not the number of questions you study daily, it’s being able to find the keywords in NCLEX style questions, narrow it down to 2 possible answers, & read your rationales carefully. Three things that contribute to nursing students failing NCLEX exam:1. Answering NCLEX questions too fast! Slow down! This contributes to NCLEX failure.2. Nursing students have misconceptions that they should know everything for NCLEX exam! You as the nursing student, will never know everything. Nursing is a constant learning process. 3. Your mindset & attitude are pivotal when you test for the NCLEX exam. If you have a crappy attitude, you will get a crappy result. A positive mindset helps those nerves and anxiety on test day. What are the 3 best NCLEX qbanks when studying for the NCLEX exam?1. Saunders is the gold standard. It has an online 6,000 question qbank and it’s the only resource that has content for those who are weak in nursing content.2. Kaplan is my 2nd favorite. It’s written at an appropriate level of Bloom’s & it has the decision making tree, good rationales, & think like a nurse!3. UWorld is my #3. I line the detailed rationales, the visuals, and it has videos. The questions are worded a bit difficult ya times but it’s still a good qbank! What are 3 things you need to study for the NCLEX exam? 1. A good NCLEX qbank like Saunders, Kaplan, or UWorld.2. An NCLEX study guide - where do I get one of those? Go to Walmart or Target and buy a planner. Write down each day the client needs area you’re going to cover as well as content (adults, pediatrics, maternity, mental health)3. Consistency when studying for your NCLEX exam is key! This means doing 50-60 questions DAILY, not sporadically! Hit the follow button for more NGN/nursing school tips/tricks!
